Yesterday’s chicken wings can still be today’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner! And no, you need not refry them in oil to get those skins nice and crispy again. All you need, friends, is the air fryer. You guys, you’ve been reheating chicken wrong all your life! If you don’t own an air fryer yet, go get one today! You can get a good one for under $100 and has endless uses. It does the job of a deep fryer without the oil and the oven at a much shorter time. With the air fryer, you’ll get the best of both worlds: healthier food ready for lunch or dinner in under 10 minutes. And yes, it also does a wonderful job in reheating chicken wings. Hot air circulates inside the oven, drying out moisture and reviving the wings into their golden crispy glory. Say goodbye to cold and limp leftovers and hello to eternally crispy juicy chicken wings.

How to Reheat Chicken Wings in the Air Fryer

First things first! Get the wings out of the fridge! They need to be warmed to room temperature before air frying them. Whatever you do, do not skip this step. It’s the key to getting that wonderful chicken crunch. Leave refrigerated wings on the counter for about 30 minutes. If your air fryer requires preheating, now’s the time to do it. You’ll air fry the wings at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  If you’re extra hungry and need to get things done faster, preheat it to 375 instead. If your air fryer isn’t non-stick, spray the basket with oil to prevent the wings from sticking. Then, arrange them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Be sure to leave enough space in between wings to let hot air through. About one inch is good enough. Never overcrowd the basket! If you have too many wings to reheat, you can always do it in batches. If the chicken wings are dry, spray them with water to add a bit of moisture. Air fry the wings for 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or for 7 minutes at 375. Shake the basket or flip the wings over halfway through to ensure even cooking. Check the chicken’s internal temperature. Stick a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the wing. It should read at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit.  Toss wings in your favorite sauce, and voila! It’s almost as good as the day you made or bought them. Easy, right? In just 10 minutes or less, you’re all set! You can also use Ninja Foodi to reheat your wings. Just follow the same procedure, except, add two more minutes to the total cooking time. Here’s an important reminder: air fryers have varying intensities. If you’re reheating chicken wings for the first time, you may want to experiment with the temperature and cook time first. Try it out with 1 or 2 wings before reheating the rest.

How to Make Chicken Wings Crispy When Reheating

There are many ways to reheat chicken wings, but to get that crispy goodness, the air fryer is the way to go. Other methods just won’t deliver the same results. The oven, for instance, reheats wings nicely, but it’ll take you forever! Meanwhile, the microwave will yield rubbery chicken skin and unevenly warmed meat. Your next best option is to refry them in the skillet, but it’s very tedious. Plus, just by looking at all that oil, you can already tell it’s not the healthiest solution. With the air fryer, however, you’ll get all the perks of crispy and juicy chicken wings minus the time, effort, and guilt.  It even gets bonus points for reducing the amount of harmful carcinogens in the wings by a whopping 90%.  Aside from the ability to make chicken hot and crispy again, there are other reasons why the air fryer is an excellent kitchen gadget. When you reheat deep-fried food in the air fryer, the excess grease is released into the bottom of the basket. You’ll still get that crispy, crunchy goodness, minus the calories.  It also gets bonus points for being super affordable. You can get an excellent-quality air fryer for as low as $100! Aside from fried chicken, you can also reheat a bunch of dishes in the air fryer. Try using it on stale fries and vegetables! In just a few minutes, they’ll be back to their fresh and crispy selves again, ready to be devoured. If you want your wings extra crispy, leave the chicken at the counter 30 minutes before reheating.  Here’s another hack for ya: spray the skins with extra virgin olive oil. That will get those skins to crisp back up!

How Many Wings Can Fit in an Air Fryer?

It depends on the size of your basket! The key is to not overcrowd the basket. There has to be at least an inch of space in between each wing, so they reheat properly. Be sure the wings don’t overlap or stacked on top of each other. This will leave you with soggy, rubbery skins!  Remember: when cooking or reheating with the air fryer, space is important. Without it, air won’t circulate freely inside the oven, thereby, not cooking the food properly.   If you have more wings than the basket can fit, just reheat in batches. It’s actually great because you get to reheat similar sizes in the same batch – another key to even cooking.

How Long to Reheat Wings in the Air Fryer

This also depends on the size of the wings and the temperature you set the air fryer, but it will take somewhere around 7 to 10 minutes. Wings are relatively small, so it won’t take long to reheat.

How to Keep Chicken Wings Moist

If your leftover wings are on the dry side, spritz them with water before you air fry.  Also, you can always rely on the sauce! Just coat the reheated wings in your favorite sauce and you won’t even notice the dryness. Click on a star to rate it!
