It’s super versatile and makes a terrific holiday gift for family and friends. Though there are many tasty toppings for white chocolate bark, my faves include green pistachios and bright red cranberries. Those festive colors make it ideal for holiday parties. That said, white chocolate is the perfect blank canvas for all kinds of yummy extras. So try mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, crushed pretzels, chopped nuts, or dried fruits – the sky’s the limit! No matter the reason or season, you’ll love this versatile white chocolate bark.
Easy White Chocolate Bark Recipe
The next time you need a super quick and easy holiday treat, you must try this white chocolate bark recipe. It’s deliciously sweet and creamy with plenty of crunchy, nutty goodness. And the chewy dried cranberries are an excellent contrast. Pistachios are pretty mild in flavor, but the green hue really pops against the white background. Of course, you can use any nuts you like, such as walnuts or pecans. Similarly, the dried cranberries look incredible scattered over the white chocolate. But go ahead and use blueberries or raisins if you prefer. To keep this dessert from being too sweet, you’ll add just a dash of nutmeg. It brings a nice amount of spice but isn’t overwhelming. Not only is this super easy to make, but I think it’s fun too! You just throw all of the ingredients together and leave it to set. Breaking it into pieces is the best part!
Ingredients
As mentioned, you can easily modify this recipe – which we’ll get to in the next section. But if you like the holiday theme, here’s what you’ll need:
White Chocolate – Since it’s the whole base of this recipe, you’ll need top-quality chocolate. Sure, there are some great white chocolate melters and wafers out there, but the flavor is nowhere near as rich and creamy. Now’s the time to splurge!
Pistachios – Pistachios are pretty mild, so the flavor won’t overpower everything else (like peanuts might). Just be sure to get unsalted and unflavored.
Dried Cranberries – Chewy, sweet, and tart, dried cranberries add fruity flavor to keep this bark from being too rich. And you can’t beat that color!
Nutmeg – Spicy and warm, nutmeg will add a nice undertone. Feel free to leave it out, but I think you’ll enjoy it.
Topping Ideas + Variations
One of my favorite things about this bark is all of the versatility it offers. In fact, this recipe can easily be customized for any occasion. Whether it’s a holiday party, birthday, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, or just for fun, there’s a topping combo for you!
Candy – For a sinfully sweet chocolate bark, try chopping up chocolate bars or adding M&Ms. I suggest finding something with caramel and salt (like Snickers) to keep it from being too sweet.
Peppermint Bark – Crushed candy canes sprinkled on top of white chocolate is the ultimate festive treat. Add a layer of dark chocolate under the white for a more traditional peppermint bark creation.
Dried Fruit – Swap the cranberries for other dried fruits. Try raisins, dried cherries, pineapple, or apricots. You can change this recipe for any season with your choice of fruit.
Toasted Nuts – Instead of pistachios, try almonds, walnuts, peanuts, or cashews. Most nuts will pair nicely with all kinds of other ingredients. Just remember to go for unsalted – unless you like lots of salt!
Tropical Bark – Make this for your next BBQ, and it’ll be a hit. You can also break it into shards and use it as a fun cupcake topping. Use dried pineapple and mango with toasted coconut flakes.
Trail Mix Bark – Add M&M’s and pretzels to this recipe for a fun treat. You can also add salted peanuts for that signature sweet and salty flavor.
Elvis – Try candied bacon, banana chips, and a swirl of peanut butter. Once everything is poured into the pan, add dollops of peanut butter and swirl it around with a knife or toothpick.
Rocky Road – Use peanuts, mini marshmallows, and milk chocolate instead of white.
Cookies and Cream – Crushed Oreo cookies turn this white chocolate bark into a cookies n cream dream.
Unicorn Bark – Kids will love this one. Add swirls of colored chocolate melts, mini marshmallows, sprinkles, and cookies.
Snowman Bark – make a fun Frosty bark with dried blueberries and blue and silver sprinkles.
Gingerbread Bark – Add some gingerbread spice instead of nutmeg, along with gingerbread cookies and gumdrops on top.
How to Store White Chocolate Bark
Luckily, white chocolate bark keeps really well. Store it in an airtight container at room temperature, and it should last about three weeks. You can store it in the refrigerator if it’s a bit warm in your house. However, it could develop some condensation and may not last as long. Also, the storage time will fluctuate depending on your toppings. For example, if you add something perishable (i.e., candied bacon), it’s best to enjoy it within a week or so. Planning to give this white chocolate bark as a gift? Try to find a metal gift box and cellophane bags. A cardboard baker’s box won’t seal in the freshness.
