It wasn’t until I started cooking on my own and looking up new recipes for things that I realized there were so many different versions of “the” chicken casserole recipe.  There’s chicken pot pie casserole, chicken noodle casserole, salsa verde chicken casserole, and so many others.  The recipe my family used was the one for crack chicken casserole, so I decided to start with it first. But don’t stop there because it’s only one of the delicious chicken casserole recipes on this list!

Million Dollar Chicken Casseroles To Put on Repeat

1. Crack Chicken Casserole

I think the reason we had crack chicken casserole so much growing up was because it was delicious, used only eight ingredients, and was insanely easy to make.  With nothing more than chopped chicken, ranch salad dressing mix, shredded cheddar, bacon, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, Ritz crackers, and butter, you can have this ready to go.  Every bite is full of salty, cheesy, chicken goodness.

2. Chicken Pot Pie Casserole

With buttery, flaky biscuits, tender chicken, plenty of veggies, and lots of herbs, this creamy, herby chicken pot pie casserole is an excellent option for a good down-home dinner.  It takes only 40 minutes to make and is enough to feed half a dozen people. If you like good, old-fashioned southern cooking, you’ll love this casserole.

3. No-Peek Chicken

The first thing people always ask me is why we call this one no-peek chicken. It’s because once you prepare it and stick it in the oven, you won’t even have to peek in and check on it!  Plus, it only takes 10 minutes to prepare and uses just 10 ingredients. The rice is creamy and fluffy, and the chicken is tender and juicy. It’s a wonderful combination.

4. Nacho Casserole

There’s a lot going on in this one pot. It’s like the tastiest plate of nachos you’ve ever had, only you’ll make it with chicken instead of beef.  Everything else is there: cheese, tomatoes, taco seasoning, chiles, black beans, and more. You can also add whatever cold ingredients to the top that you like: jalapenos, sour cream, etc.

5. Hash Brown Chicken Casserole

This casserole uses some unique ingredients. It pairs hash browns, cheese, and bacon with chicken, veggies, and more. The weirdest ingredient? Cornflakes. I know, right! That sounds crazy! But the dry cereal adds a delightful bit of crunch that takes the dish to a whole new level. It’s easy to make and has plenty of cheesy chicken and veggie flavor.

6. Creamy Swiss Chicken Bake

This five-ingredient creamy Swiss chicken bake combines skinless chicken breasts, Swiss cheese, cream of chicken soup, chardonnay, and herbed stuffing mix. It tastes incredible and is just as easy to clean up as it is to make! It’s ideal for those lazy evenings when you want a good meal but don’t want to put in a lot of effort.

7. Easy Chicken Enchilada Casserole

The author of this recipe calls it “cheesy, spicy, and sinfully delicious,” and I’m not sure there’s a more apt description than that. Requiring only four ingredients and featuring three cups of cheese, this stuff is a real crowd-pleaser, especially with the kids.

8. Chicken Tortilla Casserole

If you’re in the mood for Mexican food but want something a bit more fleshed out than the chicken enchilada casserole above, give chicken tortilla casserole a try.  It’s hearty, tasty, and full of everything you could want in a Mexican casserole, including chili powder, onions, black beans, Rotel, tomato sauce, and more.  It’s a cheesy dish that’s absolutely overflowing with robust flavors, and it takes only 15 minutes of preparation.

9. Chicken Zucchini Casserole Recipe

This creamy casserole was another fast favorite of mine once I discovered it. I love how easy it is to make (only seven ingredients) and how healthy and flavorful it is.  The boxed stuffing mix gives it a delightful herb and butter base, and the zucchini and chicken are an exceptional combination. The sour cream adds a bit of zestiness, and the onions round it out. It’s a five-star dish in my book!

10. Pesto Chicken Pasta Casserole Recipe

Thanks to the pesto, this yummy chicken dish has a distinctly Italian flair. You’ll also use pasta, chicken, tomatoes, spinach, cheese, and more.  Every bite gives you a new flavor to discover, and you’ll undoubtedly appreciate them all.

11. Chicken Noodle Casserole

This casserole is basically chicken noodle soup, only in casserole form. It still has soft, tender egg noodles, chunks of chicken, peas, carrots, seasonings, and more.  Instead of a broth base, though, you’ll have a creamy cheese and cream of chicken soup base. It makes it richer and more filling than traditional chicken noodle soup.

12. Salsa Verde Chicken Casserole

If you’re looking for something with a bit of heat and South of the Border flavor, check out this recipe for salsa verde chicken casserole.  It takes 10 minutes to prepare and another 15 to cook, so you can have it on the table in just over 30 minutes.  Be sure to throw on those extra toppings – cilantro, cotija cheese, jalapenos, red onions, etc. – as they bring home the overall flavor of the dish.

13. Farmhouse Chicken Cornbread Casserole

When something has the words “farmhouse” and “cornbread” in the recipe title, you already know it’s going to be some of that famous southern cooking.  This is pure soul food, from the delectable cornbread topping to the rich, decadent filling of condensed cream of chicken and mushroom soups, milk, diced chicken, and cheddar cheese. If you want a casserole that would be welcome in grandma’s kitchen, this is the one for you.

14. Jalapeno Popper Chicken Casserole

If a bunch of jalapeno poppers exploded in the oven and magically formed a casserole, this 50-minute dish would be the result.  It has everything that makes jalapeno poppers so incredible – bacon, onions, garlic, cream cheese, Monterey Jack, cheddar, jalapenos, and more.  There’s also shredded chicken and penne pasta for extra heartiness.

15. Cheesy Baked Chicken Pasta with Spinach

If you’re anything like me, you’ll appreciate any recipe that combines cheese and spinach. This 10-ingredient recipe features both, along with penne pasta, a creamy, garlicky sauce, and chicken. It’s genuinely phenomenal just as it is, but I like to add a few mushrooms, as well. Doing so gives it a deeper, earthier flavor that I can’t help but love.

16. Lemon Chicken Rice Casserole

You can have this creamy, somewhat zesty casserole ready for the oven in 10 minutes or less.  All you’ll need is chicken, rice, cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix, chicken broth, lemon juice, mushrooms, parsley, and a lemon. It’s a simple dinner the whole family will love.

17. Creamy Chicken & Broccoli Divan Casserole

Few things are more satisfying than a rich and creamy casserole with a crunchy, salty topping to balance out the velvety smoothness.  That’s precisely what you’ll get with this supremely cheesy casserole. The chicken is delicious, and the broccoli retains a bit of crunchiness that’s simply wonderful.  The buttery Ritz cracker topping is what brings the whole dish together, though.

18. Easy Southern-Style Chicken Divan Casserole

Here’s another recipe for the chicken and broccoli divan casserole. This one has a few more ingredients and a brighter, zestier flavor, thanks to the lemon juice and curry powder. It’s still just as yummy, though.

19. Chicken and Dumplings Casserole

This exciting dinner dish takes a little over an hour to make, but it uses simple, easy-to-find ingredients like butter, chicken, flour, onions, chicken broth, etc.  In fact, you probably already have everything you need to make it (except maybe the celery) in your kitchen right now!  If you like chicken and dumplings but have a hard time making the dumplings part of that meal, this casserole is an excellent alternative, as the dumplings pretty much make themselves.  It has all the flavor and nutrients, but with very little of the work.

20. Broccoli Chicken Casserole

I know, I know! I have a lot of broccoli and chicken casseroles on this list, but those two ingredients just complement one another so perfectly.  This recipe highlights those two main ingredients, along with some pasta, onions, mushrooms, and seasonings.  There’s a little cheese in this one, too, but it’s not as overpowering as in the two divan recipes above.

21. Keto Tuscan Chicken Casserole

Casseroles are excellent because they’re usually filling, well-balanced in nutritional value, and relatively easy to make. (Not to mention they taste great!) One thing they often aren’t is low-carb or keto-friendly. This keto Tuscan chicken casserole is both, however.  With only 3.1 carbs per serving, you can’t beat this cheesy chicken dish that looks (and tastes) like it comes from a five-star restaurant.

22. Healthy Cashew Chicken Casserole

If you’re looking for something a bit more ethnic, you may enjoy this cashew chicken casserole.  It uses ingredients like quinoa, onions, peppers, chicken, hoisin sauce, garlic, soy sauce, ginger, cashews, green onions, sesame seeds, and more to create a flavorful, almost Asian dish. It’s also packed with protein, so it’ll keep you full all night long!

23. Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole

I love everything about this creamy, chunky casserole. There’s not a single ingredient in it that I don’t enjoy or that doesn’t add a wallop of original flavor to tantalize your tastebuds.  The sauce is what makes it fantastic, though. It’s rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Try it once, and you’ll kind of want to put it on everything.

24. Easy Chicken Tetrazzini

If you prefer noodles to rice, this easy chicken tetrazzini might be more your style. It’s gooey, cheesy, and unbelievably creamy. Plus, it’s full of tender chicken!

25. Keto Chicken Cauliflower Casserole

Let’s end this list with one final keto-friendly and gluten-free recipe for those on carbohydrate-restricted diets. (Though, it tastes good enough for anyone to enjoy – diet or not.) It takes 35 minutes to make and requires only nine ingredients: cauliflower, olive oil, chicken, basil pesto, heavy cream, mozzarella, sea salt, black pepper, and fresh basil. It has a clean, fresh taste and fewer than seven net carbs per serving. That’s a tough dish to beat! Click on a star to rate it!
