Avocado: it’s what I call the fruit of the millennial. This berry (yup, it’s a berry, not a stone fruit!) has been around for ages, but it hasn’t received such massive attention until recently. One quick search will throw up a trillion amazing avocado recipes, and each is as good as the last. We’re obsessed! Is it because of its nutty flavor? Or perhaps its smooth and creamy texture? Or maybe its sheer amount of healthful benefits? It’s all of the above. Without a doubt, this fruit is “pit-y” amazing. Here are 21 desserts to prove it. Serve any of these avocado desserts to your next party and your guests are sure to “avo” good time. Alright, enough with the puns, let’s get started!

1. Avocado Mint Fudge Bars

First on the list is a recipe that uses unconventional ingredients to make fudge. Avocado, banana, coconut oil, peppermint, maple syrup, and cacao nibs – you won’t normally expect any of these in a fudge recipe, but it totally works! The banana and maple syrup give the bars a different kind of sweetness, while the peppermint and cacao nibs add that lovely chocolate and mint flavors. These mint fudge bars are not only super creamy and fudgy, but also good for you. They’re indulgent but secretly healthy!

2. Avocado Brownies

Avocado in brownies? Curiouser and curiouser.  You might be wondering – why on earth would I want to add avocado in my brownies? True, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the usual brownie recipe, but hear me out. You see, what makes this recipe so great is that you’ll enjoy the same fudgy brownies, but healthier. Because instead of adding oil to the batter, you’ll use avocados! Let me clear things up: you won’t taste the avocado at all. The chocolate will overpower the mild flavor of the fruit, and it’s really only there to give the brownies moisture. That way, you’ll get to have that second brownie without the guilt.

3. Avocado Pound Cake

This recipe gives you everything you love in a classic pound cake, but more. If you’re getting bored with the usual cake flavors – vanilla, chocolate, butter – it’s time to switch things up with an avocado pound cake! This pound cake is wonderfully sweet and nutty with a wonderful cornmeal texture. That green hue also gives it a lovely look!

4. Chocolate Avocado Cake

This chocolate avocado cake is ridiculously rich, moist, and decadent. Every bite is pure indulgence! While they’re spectacular individually, chocolate and avocados do not necessarily taste great together. But there’s no need to worry about this clashing combo because you won’t get to taste the avocado in this cake at all.  Other ingredients in the cake will mask the flavor of the fruit. So, yup, this cake is all chocolate!

5. Avocado Ice Cream

If the thought of avocado ice cream weirds you out, just think milkshakes and smoothies. Trust me, this avocado ice cream is the bomb! Avocado ice cream is incredibly smooth, creamy, and downright delicious. The fruit’s nutty flavor knocks this dessert out of the park.  It’s also accidentally vegan! It definitely gets extra points for that. Best of all, it’s a cinch to make. You won’t even need an ice cream maker!

6. Avocado Chocolate Mousse

If you’re looking for a healthy version of a chocolate mousse that doesn’t sacrifice flavor, this recipe is your best bet. This mousse is velvety smooth and insanely rich! It’s every chocolate lover’s dream. It’s also good for you.  Sure, there’s avocado in it, but you won’t even notice it. With this recipe, you’ll only taste chocolate in all its glory, so don’t worry about it traumatizing the kids.

7. Avocado Truffles

Chocolate truffles are undeniably addictive. I for one can’t stop at one! Thanks to this recipe, I can eat as many as I can and still fit into my jeans. These truffles taste just as delicious as any! They’re so rich and decadent that you won’t even believe they don’t contain heavy cream.  The not-so-secret ingredient is, as you may have guessed, avocado. I was reluctant to try this recipe at first, thinking there’s no way it could work. But boy am I grateful that I did.

8. Avocado Cookies

If you’re looking for a green confection to serve at St. Patrick’s Day, look no further.  These avocado cookies are wonderfully moist, cake-like, and loaded with chocolate chips and pistachios.  Once again, there’s no need to worry about your cookies tasting funny because of the avocado. It’s just there to keep the cookies moist and tender!

9. Avocado Frosting

What’s the fun in cake and cupcakes if there’s no frosting? This avocado frosting is the perfect icing to top any dessert. To make the frosting, we’re combining powdered sugar, mashed avocados, and a bit of lemon juice. It may sound strange, but it works!  The sweetness from the sugar plus the richness of the avocado plus the tang from the lemon creates a beautiful harmony of flavors that won’t overpower your dessert.

10. Avocado Paletas

Paletas, or Mexican ice pops, are refreshing frozen treats perfect to beat the summer heat. If you’re getting tired of the usual chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice pops, try avocado! Because it’s naturally creamy, it gives the ice pops a nice ice cream-like consistency. This recipe calls for avocados, coconut, milk, honey, and lime juice to make ice pops, so you know they’re not only delicious but also good for you!

11. Avocado Cheesecake

Avocado gives the popular cheesecake a nutty twist, and I love it. If you’ve never heard of an avocado cheesecake before, you’re in for a treat! Cream cheese is creamy and tangy, while avocados are rich and nutty. They’re perfect together! With such bold flavors, this cheesecake is definitely celebration-worthy. Plus, its lovely green hue makes it perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or Christmas.

12. Avocado Banana Muffins

Avocados and bananas? I’m intrigued. Thanks to this fruity combination, these muffins couldn’t be any moister. And the flavor? I never thought bananas and avocados tasted good together! Best of all, they are packed with nutrients. With these muffins, there’s no need to force-feed the kids a healthy breakfast.

13. Avocado Chocolate Cupcakes

These chocolate cupcakes are insanely moist, fudgy, and chocolatey. Oh, and they are vegan, too! Never has something so healthy tasted this decadent. Once again, we have Omega-3-rich avocados to thank. Because avocadoes are high in fat (the kind that’s good for you), they make a great substitute for oil and butter, without sacrificing flavor. You can frost these cupcakes with chocolate ganache, but I personally love them with avocado frosting.

14. Chocolate Peanut Butter Avocado Pudding

Chocolate, peanut butter, avocado, and dates in a pudding? I’m listening. This pudding may have a bizarre combination of ingredients, but it definitely tastes amazing. Chocolate and peanut butter give it that decadent, sweet-n-salty flavor, while the avocado makes it super-rich. The dates make it extra-sweet. Together, they create a thick, fudgy, and delectable pudding that’s healthy at the same time.

15. Lime and Avocado Tart

Want a dessert that’s delicious, easy-to-make, and good for you? This lime and avocado tart checks all the boxes. Creamy avocado coconut filling in a crunchy coconut pecan crust: talk about tropical flavors! The crust is made of coconut, pecans, and dates, which not only makes it delicious, but vegan and gluten-free, too.  The filling is a combination of avocados, lime juice, honey, and coconut oil. The coconut and avocados give this dessert a wonderfully unique flavor, with the splash of lime balancing out its richness.

16. Avocado Buttercream

Avocado buttercream is another fantastic frosting you can use to dress up your cakes and cupcakes. It also gets bonus points for being dairy-free and low-carb! Don’t be fooled by the name, though, because this buttercream tastes nothing like avocado, but chocolate. What better frosting flavor is there than chocolate? Since you’ll use avocados, this buttercream frosting is super rich and creamy without needing butter or oil. That makes it perfect for frosting vegan desserts!

17. Chocolate Raspberry Truffles

These chocolate truffles are made extra tasty with raspberries. You’d better double the recipe, because these truffles will be gone in no time! All you’ll need are chocolate, avocado, berries, and maple syrup! Yup, no cream or butter required. Don’t you just love desserts that are seemingly sinful, but are actually good for you?

18. Avocado Mochi Blondies

Mochi is a ridiculously tasty Japanese dessert. This one, in particular, is flavored with avocados, and it’s amazing. This chewy, gluttonous treat is well-loved for its unique texture. But with the addition of avocados, it becomes even more addictive.  The fruit adds a rich and nutty flavor that you can’t get from a generic mochi. The green hue adds charm to it, too!

19. Avocado Zucchini Bread

This bread may not at all sound appetizing, especially to kids, but wait until you try it. Don’t worry, the avocado and zucchini aren’t there to flavor the bread, but to give it such a fantastic texture. Thanks to these green goddesses, this bread is insanely moist and tender. If the kids ask why it’s green, just tell them it’s food coloring!

20. Avocado Banana Bread

Why try a different banana bread recipe from the one you’re using? Because this one tastes better and is better for your heart. This banana bread is insanely moist but also oil- and butter-free, and it’s all because of the magic that is the avocado!   Sure, avocados are high in fat, but it’s the kind of fat you want in your body. So go ahead, have a slice. Your body needs it.
