Fruit desserts are grand, chocolate desserts are divine, but what happens when you take those ingredients and infuse them into a rich cream? You’ll get the king of decadent desserts! What’s so great about creamy desserts is how heavenly they taste while being so versatile. There are classics like tres leches and cookies and cream. Then, there are fun-themed creations like an orange creamsicle and boozy tiramisu. Whether you’re serving yourself or a crowd, these 20 creamy desserts will be your new sweet addiction.
1. White Chocolate Mousse
A creamy dessert that’s also chocolatey? Now, this one takes the cake. Or should I say, mousse? Mousse has a heavenly texture that’s both airy and creamy without being dense. Add in melted white chocolate chips and you have a chocolate lover’s dessert fantasy. You can also throw in some dark and milk chocolate chips to make it even richer. Just don’t mess with the heavy cream. This is how you’ll get the ideal consistency.
2. Nilla Wafer Banana Pudding
This dessert takes me back to my grandma’s kitchen. Grandma always had a box of Nilla Wafers around and if we were good we got this pudding. This banana pudding has numerous layers of Nilla wafer, custard, and ripe bananas. There’s even a top layer of meringue. You’ll want to use a tall glass or trifle bowl for serving. That way, everyone can ooh and ahh over the layers.
3. Chocolate Cream Pie
Any chocoholic will go weak in the knees biting into a fork full of this cream pie. Its sinfully delicious flavor tastes like heavenly bliss. The main layer is a creamy chocolate pudding made from scratch, which makes it extra special. To up the creamy factor, this pie gets a silky topping of vanilla-infused whipped topping. And for the crust? Only an Oreo crust will do. If you’ve never made an Oreo crust, rest assured because it’s very easy. All you’ll need are Oreos, butter, and about 10 minutes worth of your time.
4. Baileys Irish Cream Tiramisu
This recipe is at the top of my list for irresistible boozy desserts. Between the mascarpone cheese, espresso, and Baileys, this tiramisu nails it. Classic Italian tiramisu is already phenomenal on its own, but when you add Baileys Irish Cream, it reaches an insurmountable level of creamy decadence. What I find amazing is how the ladyfingers manage to soak up the Baileys while still giving this cake some structure.
5. Summer Berry Trifle
Berries and cream are a flawless dessert duo perfect for a summer soiree. Add ladyfingers to the mix, and you’ll have a mesmerizing centerpiece to strike up a conversation. The berries in this dish get a coating of raspberry jam to enhance their sweet flavors, which I think is genius! If you don’t have any jam on hand, you could macerate the berries by coating them in sugar. This will draw out their juice to add more flavor and texture.
6. Philadelphia No-Bake Cheesecake
Cheesecake is an exemplary creamy dessert that can be difficult to master. Luckily, I’ve got just the recipe to cut out all the fuss. This cheesecake is a winner in my household. It consists of six ingredients and can be ready in just 10 minutes. I kid you not! I’m particularly fond of this recipe because it’s luxuriously creamy and no-bake. Meaning, it’s pretty much as foolproof of a recipe as you can get with cheesecake!
7. Key Lime Pie
Got some extra limes on hand? I know what you should make, key lime pie! Key lime pie is a refreshing break from heavy chocolate desserts. Plus, it’s super creamy. To infuse the filling, you’ll need close to 10 limes. This not only makes it a little tangy and tart, but it also helps to thicken the center. For the ultimate treat, don’t forget to cover the pie in a lime-infused homemade whipped cream topping.
8. Cookies and Cream Pie
Cookies and cream are a melodic mix of wonderful flavors and textures. So, what happens when you put it into a pie? You achieve greatness, my friends. No kid or adult can hold back from devouring a slice of this pie. It’s a luscious blend of cream cheese, heavy cream, and crumbly Oreo cookies.
9. Tres Leches Cake
I defy you to find a cake that is more creamy than tres leches. Tres leches mean “three milks” in Spanish, which is precisely what you need to make this heavenly dessert. It’s silky smooth and slightly sweet with a soft vanilla cake to soak up all the deliciousness. You’ll want to avoid using boxed cake as it won’t be able to handle the thick layer of cream. Oh, and if you’re curious, the three types of milks you’ll need are heavy whipping cream, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk.
10. Creme Brulee
I’ve been avoiding making creme brulee at home in fear of getting it wrong. Then I came across this recipe. With a touch of finesse and a handy blow torch, you can make exquisite creme brulee in the comfort of your own home. The inside is rich in custard while the topping is a crisp toffee layer that’s just waiting for your spoon to crack.
11. Banana Cream Pie
Bananas can often overpower or distract from other flavors. But when you pair them with cream, you get the perfect match! There’s something about this pie that’s humbling and unassuming, and yet, utterly striking. Between the bananas, vanilla pudding, and crust, it has a surprising amount of texture, and a sprinkle of cinnamon heightens the rich, creamy flavor.
12. Caramel Flan
Flan is a popular Mexican dessert that’s like a jiggly Jell-O mold, but with sweet creamy custard. Like creme brulee, it can be intimidating to make. That’s why I highly recommend this recipe. This is a fabulous guide to achieving the perfect flan. Caramel on the top and custard everywhere else, caramel flan is a fun dessert to serve the family.
13. Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding
Thick and creamy puddings are hard to resist. Add in chocolate, and you’ll lick up every last bit. Cornstarch helps to trap the cream and thicken the pudding for an impeccable texture. You’ll also want to use unsweetened cocoa powder to get this recipe just right. I know you’re probably thinking, why even bother when the boxed stuff is so easy? Trust me, the consistency and flavor surpass what you can buy from the store.
14. Ice Cream Cake
I think we can all agree ice cream is good no matter the time of year. This cake, however, has “special occasion” written all over it. It takes cookies and cream ice cream and turns it into a fun chocolate-rich cake. You could also change up the flavor and go with Funfetti or chocolate and peanut butter. But this one is the best when you want something heavy on the cream.
15. Coffee Cream Pie
It may look like peanut butter, but this pie is all about the coffee and cream. The dreamy coffee custard and the thick whipped cream topping are hands down amazing. It’s not too bitter, not too sweet, and the perfect amount of creamy. It also has a chocolate crust to round out all the flavors.
16. Orange Creamsicle Pie
This whimsical delight will put a smile on any recipient’s face. It’s a fun combination of orange and cream that mimics the flavors of a classic creamsicle. You’ll want the trifecta of creamy ingredients to get the right texture for the filling. This includes sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and cream cheese. Don’t forget the orange zest to make the final flavor pop!
17. Italian Cream Cupcakes
Italian cream cake consists of shredded coconut, pecans, and vanilla. All of these are perfect to be baked into a cupcake and topped with cream cheese frosting. If you don’t have pecans, I think almonds or walnuts will be a decent substitution.
18. Fresh Berry Cream Cake
Remember that show-stopping berry trifle I mentioned? Meet its equally delicious cousin. This cake is brimming with whipped cream and berries between each fluffy layer of vanilla cake. I think this cake is a winner for birthdays, bridal showers, brunches, and more. Oh, and if you really want to dazzle your guests, I say infuse the whipped cream with an extract like citrus or coconut.
19. Old-Fashioned Whoopie Pies
Old-time classics like the whoopie pie will never go out of style because they’re just too good! For this recipe, you’ll make two cake-like chocolate cookies and sandwich a heaping of vanilla filling in between. These are a fun treat to eat that doesn’t take too long to make.
20. Coconut Cream Pie
Tropical bliss is the best way to describe this pie. The filling is a combination of coconut milk and half-and-half while the topping is a mound of toasted coconut. A coconut lover’s dream, this coconut pie is about indulgently creamy as desserts come. Click on a star to rate it!
