Crisp, floral, and just a little sweet, Galas are one of the most popular apple varieties around. They’re a universally loved fruit and are terrific for applesauce, cider, baking, or snacking. If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, does that include a thick slice of apple pie? How about a bowl of apple dumplings? Either way, you’ll want to try these apple-solutely delicious Gala apple recipes.

1. Rustic French Apple Tart

Ooh-la-la, this rustic apple galette is the perfect end to an autumn dinner. Or any cozy meal, really, because when is pastry ever a bad idea? This tart features warm and aromatic cinnamon sugar-coated apples with a hint of vanilla. The crust is buttery and flaky and oh, so delicious.

2. Homemade Apple Pie

There is nothing so quintessentially American as apple pie. You’ll find it on the table at many get-togethers, from Thanksgiving to the 4th of July. And what’s not to love? Apple pie is good hot or cold, it’s sweet and full of spices, and its flaky crust and gooey filling are simply sublime.  If your family doesn’t already have a “Grandma’s Apple Pie” recipe, use this one. It’s super simple and results in the perfect pie every time.

3. Apple Muffins

Sure, blueberry and lemon poppyseed muffins are delicious, but these are about to become your favorite.  These apple muffins are moist, sweet, and filled with spiced bites of appley goodness. If that’s not reason enough to love them, they’re also topped with a toffee pecan crunch. Yum! These muffins might be meant for breakfast, but they’d make a great dessert, too!

4. Cinnamon Apple Cake

This cinnamon apple cake is perfect for your next small get-together.  It’s sweet, super moist, and features a delicious cinnamon-sugar crumble topped with a milky glaze. Best served warm; this cake is humble but luscious.  Now, all you need is good coffee and a few friends to share it with.

5. Microwave Baked Apples

Want a fast, easy, and healthy treat? This simple apple recipe is perfect for you! All you need is butter, cinnamon, and Gala apples.  In a microwave-safe bowl, add chopped apples, cinnamon, and butter. Microwave for 2-4 minutes and voila – warm, spiced, and deliciously sweet apples.  These baked apples are great alone, on oatmeal, on pancakes, or topped with ice cream. That might mitigate the health benefits, but it sure is good for your soul.

6. Air Fryer Apple Chips

Apple chips are the perfect snack food. They are crispy, a little chewy, and wonderfully sweet. With the invention of the Air Fryer, this healthy snack has never been easier to make.  This recipe uses cinnamon for extra flavor, but you can use any spice you like or make them plain. Cardamom is another excellent option.

7. Skillet Cinnamon Apples

Skillet cinnamon apples are a quick, easy, and tasty treat. Better yet, you just need some basic ingredients that you probably have in your house already. Gather some Gala apples, cinnamon, butter, brown sugar, lemon juice, salt, and vanilla extract. Then, sauté them in a skillet until the apples are tender. How easy is that?

8. Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

Apple dumplings are always a good idea, but these are extra special. They’re ooey-gooey in the center and crispy on top.  The Mountain Dew adds a citrusy brightness that is so delicious. Every bite is fantastic!

9. Apple Crumble Pie

This fantastic apple dessert is the love-child of apple pie, and apple crumble. It features a flaky pastry crust, sweet apple filling, and a buttery cinnamon sugar crumble on top.

10. Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp

There is something so homey about a fruit crisp. And this apple crisp is no exception. Cinnamon apples and a crumbly, buttery oatmeal crust are heavenly.  Serve it à la Mode for a wonderfully cozy dessert.

11. Slow Cooker Apple Butter

Apple butter is one of my favorite spreads, and this version is bursting with sweet apple flavor and notes of caramel.  The key to good apple butter is cooking it low and slow, which is why I love this recipe. Using the slow-cooker makes the process extremely simple. When the apple butter is ready, slather it on literally everything.

12. Homemade Applesauce

It’s always nice to have applesauce on hand. It’s great for snacking and for adding extra moisture to baked goods. And sure, it’s inexpensive in the store, but there’s nothing like homemade.  Plus, like using ripe bananas, this is a terrific way to use up leftover fruit. If you want a hands-off experience, make this in the slow cooker.

13. Arby’s Chicken Salad Sandwich

Chicken salad always makes me think of summer days and picnics by the lake. This copycat recipe is practically gourmet, as it’s savory, sweet, meaty, and full of great textures.  It’s creamy because of the mayonnaise, while the apples, celery, and pecans add a fantastic crunch. Then, there’s also juicy pops of fresh grapes. Serve it on your favorite bread, or eat it straight from the bowl!

14. Apple Fritters

Bring your favorite fair food home with these apple-packed fritters. These little fried bites of happiness are super yummy and easy to make.  Made with a simple batter and loads of fresh apples, they’re crispy, sweet, and fabulous. This recipe uses hints of lemon to balance every bite.

15. Sausage Apple Breakfast Casserole

Is it quiche? Is it bread pudding? I’m not entirely sure, but it certainly is tasty. I do know that this casserole will become a breakfast favorite. It features savory sausage, sweet apple, crusty bread, eggs, and seasonings. It’s a little sweet, a little savory, and unexpectedly delicious.

16. Simple Apple Sage Stuffing

Stuffing is one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving dinner. It’s buttery, herby, and delectable. This apple and sage stuffing might be even better! All of the savory elements of the dish are perfectly balanced by the sweet apples making it rich and utterly fabulous.

17. Cabbage Salad with Apples and Walnuts

Delicious and nutritious, this salad will nourish your body and tickle your taste buds. This superfood salad is raw, so you get the best of every nutrient-dense ingredient. It has a fantastic texture, with a crisp crunch from the apple and a good bite from the walnut. Plus, the dressing is sweet and tangy.  Sharp cheddar cheese and olive oil add fat, which is just a little indulgent and very, very tasty.

18. Apple Cranberry Crumble

The holiday season is known for impressive but very rich food. And unfortunately, it’s just so hard to say ‘no’ to some of the yummy offerings. So, you end up feeling heavy and gross. With this delicious apple cranberry crumble, you can say ‘yes’ to dessert and ‘no’ to guilt. This dish is sweet, tart, and tasty with all of the holiday flavors you know and love.  Thankfully, a few simple swaps make it a lot lighter than many popular holiday desserts, and it can also be customized to most dietary needs.

19. Orange Candy Apples

You can literally compare apples to oranges with this syrupy treat. In reality, it’s pretty much all apple, but it does have a lovely orange hue.  They’re easy to make, too! All you need are Gala apples, light corn syrup, sugar, water, and orange food coloring. Simply prepare the candy coating and then dip the apples.  Once the apples are set, you have a beautiful and fantastically sweet treat. Add some flavor extracts for more sugary fun. It’s the stuff of childhood dreams.

20. Festive Guacamole with Apples and Pomegranate

This fun twist on guacamole is perfect for the holidays. It’s very fresh, a little spicy, and astonishingly good.  Start with your typical base- avocados, jalapeños, lime, garlic, onion, cilantro, and salt. But this is where it gets fun – you’ll also add in apples, pomegranate, and toasted walnuts.  This guacamole has a great texture and flavor, and rather than chips, I serve this with French bread crostinis.  This would also make a fantastic base for chicken salad, too. Simply add a little mayonnaise and rotisserie chicken, and you’ll never look back. Click on a star to rate it!
