They’re sweet, colorful, and almost as exciting as waiting for Santa! The family is home, the presents are wrapped, and it’s a time for good food and joy. And nothing will bring you more joy than these stunning Christmas waffles. They don’t require a lot of work, and you can add all sorts of fabulous toppings. So from spiced eggnog to Christmas trees, I know these Christmas waffle recipes will quickly become a new holiday tradition.

15 Fun Christmas Waffles Your Kids Will Love

1. Christmas Tree Waffles

Start the holiday right with these adorable Christmas tree waffles!  They’re a super simple way to bring some joy to the breakfast table without spending hours in the kitchen. Just mix up a waffle batter as usual, then add a few drops of green food coloring. That’s all it takes! The kids will love trimming these trees with sprinkles for lights and powdered sugar for snow. You can even go all out and top these trees with star-shaped sugar cookies!

2. Gingerbread Waffles

Christmas is the time of year for everything gingerbread, including waffles! Tangy buttermilk, thick molasses, brown sugar, and a handful of ground spices make these taste like sugar and spice and everything nice!  I know not everyone keeps buttermilk on hand. So if that’s the case, make your own with milk and a squeeze of lemon juice. Oh, and if you’ve got a busy morning unwrapping presents around the Christmas tree, prepare the batter the night before.  Then all you have to do is heat the waffle iron and dig in!

3. Christmas Glaze Donut Waffles

Homemade donuts take a while to make. Unless you’re these Bisquick donuts, you need to make the dough, proof it, roll it, proof it again, then fry them. Luckily, these donut waffles are a cinch to whip up. And as good as the waffles are, it’s all about the glaze here. So be sure to make enough to smother them on the plate. Like donuts, it’s hard to eat just one!

4. Eggnog Waffles

While the kids are munching on Christmas tree waffles, why not make these eggnog waffles for the adults? That creamy, spiced, signature taste makes these waffles a dream. And while the recipe doesn’t call for it, a splash of bourbon will really take them over the edge. I mean, it is the holidays, after all!  Though, if you use alcohol-free eggnog, I’m sure the kids will love them too.

5. Easy Cinnamon Roll Waffles

Cinnamon roll waffles are good any time of year, but there’s something about the magic of Christmas that makes them taste even better.  Plus, they’re as easy as can be!  Pop open a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, cook them in the waffle iron, and top with icing. This is a great recipe to get kids involved, and it cuts down on dishes. That right there is a win-win for everyone.

6. Red Velvet Waffles with Cream Cheese Glaze

You say, “red velvet,” and I say, “yes, please!” A bit of cocoa powder and red food coloring turn classic waffles into a decadent cake-like treat. What’s even more impressive is that these waffles only take 30 minutes to make.  They’re also beginner-friendly. So you don’t have to worry about trying out anything too complicated first thing in the morning. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper red velvet recipe without the cream cheese glaze. Yum!

7. Homemade Mint Waffles

Mint chocolate chip ice cream may be a stretch for Christmas breakfast, but these waffles aren’t! Fresh mint and irresistible chocolate chips paired with golden brown waffles is about as decadent as it gets.  And while it does sound like dessert, you can feel better knowing it’s sweetened with mashed banana.

8. Homemade Pumpkin Spice Waffles

If your family loves pumpkin spice, you’ve got to try this one – it’s pumpkin to the max! Be sure to use canned pumpkin puree and not canned pumpkin pie filling. Otherwise, you’ll go overboard on the pumpkin spice.  I love these with honey butter for a sweeter touch. They also go nicely with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa.

9. Cinnamon Pecan Waffles

Christmas is a time for lots of sweets and big hearty feasts. So if you’re looking for something a little more wholesome, try these cinnamon and pecan waffles.  The hint of spice and nutty pecans enhances the flavor without drowning it in sugar.  For an even healthier alternative, replace the dairy with almond milk and use coconut sugar or honey instead of brown sugar.

10. Chocolate Marshmallow Waffles with Raspberry Cream Topping

Spoil the family Christmas morning with this holiday delight.  These six-ingredient waffles are fruity, chocolatey, and piled high with whipped cream.  The secret is to use Bisquick and chocolate marshmallow milk. It cuts down the ingredients and adds a little something special. Speaking of which, the raspberry cream is the grand finale you don’t want to miss!

11. Vegan Peppermint Hot Chocolate Chip Waffles

Need something vegan? How about these stunning hot chocolate waffles? The waffles are loaded with cocoa, peppermint extract, and chocolate chips. So really, they’re phenomenal on their own. But it wouldn’t be hot chocolate without chocolate sauce and marshmallows on top!

12. Decadent Chocolate Waffles

What I love about the holidays is that it’s totally acceptable to gorge yourself on chocolate – even at breakfast time. This recipe calls for cocoa powder, so you don’t have to worry about added sugar. But you can tailor the sweetness to your liking. You can also make these extra fluffy by whipping the egg whites separately. It’s an extra step, but it’s well worth it.

13. Crispy Chocolate Chip Waffles

Move over chocolate chip pancakes because this Christmas is all about crispy chocolate chip waffles. Corn starch gives them a nice crispy texture. Meanwhile, the inside is super fluffy, thanks to the buttermilk.  Then there’s the sweet morsels of gooey chocolate in every bite. Yum! You know what I’m thinking, right? Top it off with chocolate sauce and a dollop of whipped cream!

14. Christmas Brunch Waffles

Try these sensational brunch waffles if you’re not in the mood for anything sweet. From the crispy base and poached egg to the hollandaise sauce, this is the kind of meal that’ll keep you going all day. Feel free to serve it with bacon or sausage, and try adding a dash of Sriracha, too. It’ll wake you up in the best way!

15. Berry Rudolph Waffles

The waffle recipe here contains Minute Maid Berry Punch, so every bite has a distinct sweet fruitiness. But what I love about this is that you can use any waffle recipe you like. So make it with chocolate chips, bananas, or even matcha if you’re feeling funky. So long as you add that red nose and those antlers, it’ll be a hit! Of course, you could go the store-bought route, too. But it’s Christmas, so why not go the extra mile? Click on a star to rate it!
