Luckily, these keto sandwiches are 100 percent compliant. I’m sure most of you will agree when I say the most difficult thing about keto is giving up bread. No baguettes, no buns, no rolls, nothing. That means lunch sandwiches are out of the equation. Whether there’s one you can’t live without or lean toward sandwiches as an easy lunch crutch, you’ll have to figure something else out. Or so I thought until I came across keto sandwiches. These keto sandwich recipes revamp the classic notion of a sandwich so you can have your sandwich and stay keto, too.
15 Low Carb Sandwiches That Actually Taste Amazing
1. Keto Grilled Cheese Sandwich
For me, the hardest part about keto is giving up a crispy, gooey grilled cheese that’s oozing with goodness. But with this recipe, I don’t have to miss it. You’ll make keto-friendly bread with the help of some coconut flour, eggs, and milk. Unlike gluten-rich bread that needs time to rise, this one can be ready in 90 seconds. From there, simply layer on the cheese, slather on the butter, and get grilling!
2. Italian Sub Roll-Ups
How do savory Italian meats and zero net carbs sound? It may sound too good to be true, but it’s not. Ditch the tortilla and go full-on fixings with this recipe. It starts with a triple layer of Italian deli meats which include ham, mortadella, and capicola. From there, you’ll add on the cheese, salami, pepperoncini, onions, and then roll. While this recipe doesn’t call for it, I think some mayo and keto-friendly mustard will pair nicely.
3. Keto Breakfast Sandwich
I often take my breakfast to go because I’m either in a hurry or not hungry yet. That typically means I’ll be eating a sandwich, which can present a problem adhering to keto. To solve this conundrum, I turn to this breakfast sandwich. Two sausage patties act as buns to hold fluffy eggs and fresh avocado slices. Smear on a little cream cheese for an extra morning boost. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a few dashes of hot sauce, too.
4. Keto Hot Pockets
Feed the family dinner and stick to your diet with these fun keto hot pockets. They’re a nostalgic treat that’s gluten-free and far fresher than that stuff in the frozen section of the grocery store. However, if you do want to save some for later, these freeze well. Aside from that, these are fairly easy to make. You’ll need some crazy keto dough, but that will only take about 10 minutes to make. From there, load up the dough with ham, cheese, and mustard, then bake when hunger strikes.
5. Philly Cheese Steak Wraps
Having everyone over for the game, but trying to stick to your diet? Well, you can have it all with this recipe. These enticing juicy sandwiches take about 15-minutes to make and they don’t skimp on the flavor. They’re overflowing with thin slices of steak, grilled onions, and melted cheese. As for the wraps, you’ll use low-carb keto wraps that are a clever use of pork rinds. Serve these bad boys up, and you may find yourself in the presence of a few other new keto diet fans.
6. Low Carb Reuben Stromboli
Stromboli is as fun to say as it is to eat. While Reuben fixings may not be the most typical rendition, it’s delicious nonetheless. The inside is jam-packed with sauerkraut, corned beef, and cheese. For the outside, you’ll whip up a low-carb mozzarella dough.
7. Keto Ham and Swiss Poppy Seed Sliders
These ham and swiss sliders are scrumptious nibbles. The dinner rolls are dripping with butter, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard, all of which are a prime accompaniment to deli ham and swiss cheese. You can serve these cold, but I think they taste way better when you warm them up until the cheese starts to melt.
8. Keto Breakfast Chaffle Sandwich with Bacon and Egg
Is Sunday brunch getting you down? Don’t let it because you’ll get to eat this! This savory sandwich is incredibly gratifying and ridiculously easy to pull together. First, make two chaffles with eggs and cheddar cheese. Then, sandwich bacon, more cheese, and a fried egg in between.
9. Lettuce Wrap Sandwich
Gluten-free bread substitutions are great for keto sandwiches, but they’ll usually require extra work. If you want something quick and easy, go with this. Lettuce acts like a tortilla and wraps all the ingredients inside. Keep in mind, some types of lettuce wrap better than others. Crisp, crunchy leaves like butter lettuce and romaine are best. You could even make these with cabbage. As for the inside, the sandwich fillings are highly adaptable to suit your mood.
10. Cucumber Sandwiches
Not all keto sandwiches have to be super fatty and heavy. Some can be ultra-fresh, like this recipe. I love what a genius use of cucumbers this is. Slice them in half, hollow out the center, and you’ll have room for all your yummy layers. You can stuff them with turkey like this recipe, or omit the meat and go full veggies. Of course, you’ll need some fat, so I say keep the cheese. If you don’t want the cucumber portion you scooped out to go to waste, you can turn it into a creamy fresh spread with the help of some mayo, lemon, and dill.
11. Cubano Chaffle Sandwich
Now, here is a sandwich nobody can resist! Cubanos are not only a popular authentic Cuban food, but they’re also at the top of the list. To make it keto, this recipe has a clever solution. You’ll mix eggs with cheese, then press them in a waffle iron to get a chaffle. Make two, and you can stuff them with classic Cubano layers like ham, pork, and cheese. Not only is this a tasty Cubano sandwich, but it’s also one of my favorite keto breakfast recipes.
12. Flaxseed Keto Wraps
Keto dieter or not, flaxseed keto wraps are on point! Flaxseeds, eggs, and mozzarella come together to make an incredible wrap. They have a sort of rustic charm that pairs well with fresh ingredients. Ingredients like feta cheese, fresh cherry tomatoes, arugula, and prosciutto will taste divine.
13. Keto Pizza Pockets
Another excellent version of keto-friendly pizza pockets is this kid-approved recipe. With this recipe, you won’t have to give up pizza night just because you’ve gone keto. You can indulge your tastebuds all you want with these cheesy, meaty pockets. When picking out a pizza sauce, be sure it doesn’t have a bunch of added sugar.
14. Keto Steak Tacos On Pork Rind Tortillas
Okay, so this may be more of a taco than a sandwich. But you’ll eat it with your hands, so I think it counts. For the tortillas, you’ll use crushed pork rinds which give it a crunchy texture and a bit more protein. Then, for the filling, it’s all about juicy steak and cheese. You can add some fresh veggies if you like, or simply add a splash of hot sauce and dig in.
15. Easy Keto Avocado Toast
All the best vegetarian sandwiches come with avocado in my humble opinion, so this one makes the list! The bread is low-carb with an almond flour base. While good, it’s really all about the fixings. Avocado makes it nice and creamy, which pairs heavenly with salty prosciutto. Add a handful of fresh arugula for a terrific peppery kick. Click on a star to rate it!
