Nothing quite spells comfort and convenience like a Crockpot! Sure, meat and potatoes are delish in the slow cooker, but these rice recipes are worth a mention. From chicken and rice to rice pudding, the slow cooker is where the party starts! Cooking rice on the stovetop can be tricky if not done right. The slow cooker provides all the ease of a rice cooker, with your favorite cooking appliance. Grab your Crockpot and dig into 13 of my favorite slow cooker rice recipes.
1. Lazy Slow Cooker Rice
If you know you’re cooking rice with dinner, try preparing it in your slow cooker! You’ll get perfect fluffy white rice with no worries. First, rinse your rice under cold water to remove excess starch from the grains. Spray your pot with oil, and add the rice and water. This recipe is for simple white rice, but you can season it for the recipe you desire.
2. Crockpot Chicken and Rice
Chicken and rice is one of those frugal, easy dinners every kitchen deserves. It’s kid-friendly, tasty, and comforting. What’s not to love? There are many ways to make this classic staple, but I love the subtle changes in this recipe. Greek yogurt adds a creamy tang, and Dijon mustard adds a rustic spiced flavor. It’s simple, flavorful, and has all of the comfort you want in a casserole.
3. Slow Cooker Spanish Rice
Authentic Spanish rice is a labor of love. The slow cooker gives you the flavor of traditional spiced rice, with a fraction of the work. The key to this recipe is first sauteing the rice and onions. Then, add all the ingredients into your slow cooker and let it do all the work. Serve your rice with a bit of lime juice and cilantro for a full flavor profile. It’s fluffy, colorful, and cooked to perfection!
4. Slow Cooker Mushroom Rice
Buttery mushrooms and rice is officially one of my favorite fall side dishes. It’s warm, cozy, and so easy to make in the slow cooker! Combine in your slow cooker caramelized onions, mushrooms, broth, and butter. Allow this cozy rice dish to cook for 2 hours, and enjoy! I love this rice with simple grilled salmon and asparagus, but you could eat it on its own. Trust me, it’s that good.
5. Slow Cooker Chicken and Rice Soup
Chicken noodle soup has nothing on this cozy chicken and rice soup. This recipe is my go-to for busy nights, and there’s always plenty to share! This soup features mirepoix, fresh herbs, and tender chicken and rice in a hearty broth. Parboiled rice is key to preventing mushy, overcooked rice in your soup. If you can’t find parboiled rice, cook your rice separately and stir it in before serving.
6. Slow Cooker Pork Chops and Rice
Pork chops and rice is a frugal and filling dinner that’s so easy to throw together. It’s as easy as setting and forgetting the Crockpot with recipes like these. Add your pork chops, mushroom soup, seasonings, broth, and rice to your slow cooker. Cooking on low for 7 to eight 8 keeps the meat tender and juicy. When I say tender, I mean they fall apart on your fork and melt in every bite. You can’t go wrong with an easy dinner that tastes this good!
7. Slow Cooker Jambalaya
A Creole classic made in the Crockpot? Yes, please! Loaded with four types of meat, this jambalaya is hearty enough to feed an army. There are a couple of extra steps to this recipe to avoid overcooking the rice and shrimp. With this recipe, you can expect a little spice and a whole lotta soul!
8. Slow Cooker Caribbean Shrimp and Rice
Who knew the Crockpot was the ticket to traveling the world through your tastebuds? This easy shrimp and rice will take you straight to the Caribbean islands! The rice in this recipe is cooked separately from the shrimp and broth. This allows the shrimp and peas to marinate in a tomato broth before serving.
9. Slow Cooker Beef Tips and Rice
Beef tips are one of my favorite slow cooker recipes. The tender hearty meat and beefy gravy are irresistible in my eyes! Pile your beef and gravy ingredients in the slow cooker, and let it cook low and slow. When you’re ready to serve dinner, serve it over a bed of white rice. For easy cleanup, cook the beef tips and rice in your slow cooker using separate liners. Just add the rice to the cooker with about 2 hours left on the beef!
10. Shipwreck Casserole
Who knew a shipwreck could be so hearty and satisfying? It may not be the prettiest dinner, but it’s delicious. Layer potatoes, beef, onions, carrots, and rice into your slow cooker. Then, pour tomato soup over the top and let flavor magic happen. You can’t go wrong with a kid-friendly and easy dinner!
11. Mexican Crockpot Casserole
For a more sophisticated touch, I like to call these deconstructed enchiladas. They have all the flavor of enchiladas in a comforting casserole. With ground beef, it’s best to brown the meat before adding it to your slow cooker. Then, add in the remaining ingredients and cook for 2-3 hours on high. Top your Mexican casserole with sour cream, avocado, and cilantro. These fresh flavors balance the warm spice of the casserole itself.
12. Crockpot Chicken Fried Rice
I know it should be so easy, but I can never get pan-fried rice to turn out right. Thankfully, this easy Crockpot recipe makes the perfect fried rice with no stress! It has tender teriyaki chicken, fluffy rice, bright veggies, and umami scrambled eggs. It’s advised to scramble your eggs separately and fold them in, otherwise, they’ll absorb into the rice.
13. Crockpot Rice Pudding
With rice being such a versatile grain, I have to feature my favorite rice dessert on this list. Perhaps this is why we say, “Save the best for last!” Creamy, buttery rice pudding is flavored with warm spices and brown sugar. It’s comforting, slightly sweet, and so easy to make! This rice pudding has some serious oatmeal vibes, so it’s like dessert for breakfast. There’s nothing like starting your day with a warm hug from the inside. Click on a star to rate it!
