This fish is a favorite in the Aloha State, and you can prepare it in many ways. From ceviche to tacos to salads, there’s a recipe for everyone to love. Plus, wahoo is a healthy seafood choice that’s high in protein and pretty low in mercury. Like all fish, wahoo is also low-carb and keto-friendly. So it’s an excellent option for those looking for a nutritious meal.  What are you waiting for?! Fire up the grill and get cooking with one of these fantastic wahoo recipes!

1. Delicious Grilled Wahoo with Tomatoes & Olives

Seafood lover or not, you’ll adore these thick, succulent wahoo steaks. It takes 30 minutes to whip them up on the grill, and you’ll love every bite. The fish itself has a mild, slightly sweet taste. And the robust and garlicky tomatoes and olives are its perfect complement.  Every bite is richer and more flavorful than the last. I like to serve it with a leafy green salad, but it’s a pretty versatile dish.

2. Wahoo Salad

This sweet and tangy wahoo salad is a cool, refreshing treat. It’s creamy and mild, with plenty of crunchy onions and celery pieces for texture. I love the bright flavor of the dill. You can’t add too much of it for my tastes. Additionally, the garlic and Old Bay seasoning round everything out nicely.  If you’re still eating plain old tuna salad, get ready for a treat. This tasty spread is about to blow the tuna right out of the water. (Pun very much intended.)

3. Seared Wahoo with Mango Salsa

Good mango salsa should make you want to fly to Jamaica and take up steel drums. If it doesn’t, you’re not making it correctly. It features a vibrant taste and color and a delightfully sweet and spicy zing. You can add it to anything savory and kick it up a notch. Even so, it’s fantastic on wahoo. The fish is juicy and delicious, and the zesty salsa pairs wonderfully with its natural sweetness. I like to pile them both on a bed of rice.  Although, if you need a keto-friendly option, enjoy it as-is. Adding an earthy side dish like grilled asparagus would be a nice, low-carb touch.

4. Wahoo’s Fish Tacos Citrus Slaw

When it comes to grilled fish tacos, you can’t do better than wahoo. It’s the ideal choice for tacos, as it’s fresh, flaky, juicy, and mild. It soaks up the flavors of everything around it.  And the citrus slaw on these tacos is insanely good. It’s fresh and refreshing, and the tangy green sauce is the stuff. Throw on some garlic salt and top them with fresh pico.  The only complaint you’ll have is that you didn’t make more.

5. Steamed Wahoo with Soy Ginger Sauce

Forget everything you know about wholesome eating. This heart-healthy dish is a nutritional powerhouse.  You’ll cook it with soy sauce and ginger slices. They give the wahoo a sweet, hot bite that you won’t be able to resist. Then, you steam it to nutritious perfection.  You couldn’t have convinced me that steamed fish could lock in this much flavor. I wouldn’t have believed you until I tried it myself. It’s unreal.

6. Grilled Wahoo & Stuffed Portobello

You’ll love this simple pairing of wahoo, brown rice, and portobello mushrooms. It looks stunning, smells great, and tastes even better.  Grilling the fish this way really shows off its attractive appearance.  Everyone will enjoy its tender, flaky white flesh and lovely grill marks. The hearty portobello mushroom and well-seasoned rice are just bonuses.  It takes about 35 minutes to whip up this meal, and it’s a meal by itself. You won’t need any sides with this one.

7. Sous Vide Wahoo with Pineapple Mango Mint Salsa

If you like mango salsa, wait until you try pineapple mango mint salsa. Believe it or not, it’s even better. (Although let’s be honest, I adore them both.) This recipe will give you another flavorful seafood dish that looks as good as it tastes. The bright golden salsa looks fantastic against the stunning white fish.  And its minty fresh, sweet and spicy taste is exquisite. With or without the bed of rice, this dinner is filling and impossible not to love.

8. Tanigue Fish Steak ala Bistek

Salted, fried, and cooked in soy sauce and lemon juice, this Filipino dish is spectacular. It has a bold, ethnic, and herby flavor. Plus, the sauteed onions make it even more appetizing.  If you’ve never seen fish steaks before, they may look odd to you at first. Don’t let that throw you off, though. These things are so good, the whole family will want seconds. Sides of steamed rice and veggies will complete the meal. It’s the ultimate wahoo dish, and everyone will love it.

9. Pan-Fried Wahoo with Creamy Dill Leek Sauce

Everything about this dish is delicate, understated, and mild. It’s also 125% scrumptious.  Have you ever had one of those meals that’s light and delicious? That describes this dish perfectly. Every bite is superb, but there’s no bold flavor that stands out from the rest. You’ll taste the garlic, dill, leeks, and butter. You’ll even taste the fish and the seasonings. But none of them overpowers the others. They all blend into one seamless, fantastic flavor.  Just try it. You’ll be beyond glad that you did.

10. Kinilaw na Tanigue Recipe (Fish Ceviche)

This bright and zesty ceviche has a kick to it. Of course, it doesn’t have much choice between the onions, chili, and ginger.  It also has the light, vibrant, slightly tart taste for which ceviche is so famous.  Plus, if you’re not comfortable cooking fish, this dish is perfect. There’s no cooking involved! You simply mix everything in a bowl and let it chill for 3 hours. It doesn’t get much simpler than that.  Click on a star to rate it!
